Viking Celebrates Float Out Seventh Ocean Ship, Viking Venus

Late final 7 days, Viking Cruises celebrated the float out of its seventh, 930-passenger, oceangoing ship, the 47,800-ton Viking Venus at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy. The event marked a design milestone and was the very first time that the new ship experienced touched water. Scheduled to debut in early 2021, Viking Venus will function itineraries in the Mediterranean and in Northern Europe.

“We started Viking’s ocean undertaking eight yrs back, and alongside one another with Fincantieri we have created the world’s most lovely ships,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking. “Today we are pleased to celebrate this crucial milestone in the design of our seventh ocean ship.”

Hagen mentioned that “as the planet carries on its path to recovery from COVID-19, we remain concentrated on the long run, and with potent bookings for 2021 and the enthusiasm of our visitors, we are optimistic about what is to come.”

He thanked Fincantieri and everyone doing work at the garden in Ancona for their tricky get the job done and commitment on the building of Viking Venus, and mentioned Viking seems to be forward to welcoming the ship to its fleet next year. The vessel has 465 staterooms. 

The float out of Viking Venus began at about 11:30 a.m. community time on June 11. A wire was minimize to allow for water to get started flowing into the ship’s building dock. Pursuing a two-working day course of action, the ship was set afloat and was moved to a close by outfitting dock for final design and interior develop-out.

Viking Venus will be a part of a fleet comprising six other oceangoing vessels: Viking Star, Viking Sea, Viking Sky, Viking Solar, Viking Orion and Viking Jupiter.
