Sailing the Turquoise Coastline, Turkey’s jagged azure blue southwest coastline was a relatives-helpful adventure that was like no other and surpassed all our expectations.

Our gulet, a classic wood Turkish yacht, was the most attractive on the high seas with its mahogany wood grain hull and blue masts. We experienced chartered the six-cabin yacht for our prolonged family getaway. For 10 times, this was to be our property – a high-class, enjoyable and adventurous way to see Turkey wherever there was plenty to do, equally on-board and off.

Our yacht docked at little marinas, sheltered lagoons and hidden coves. We hiked the countryside and savored the turquoise sea from secluded anchorage by swimming, kayaking, wind browsing and fishing. The mix of hikes, historic ruins, legendary swims and drinking water functions, and time to unwind lazily on deck designed an personal household-helpful tempo for older people, seniors and young children alike. Getting the regions coastal villages, some obtainable only by boat, hiking in the pine forests and checking out Hellenic ruins, we attained an expansive eyesight of the land.

En route, at Olu Deniz, the gorgeous Blue Lagoon, a sheathe of serene blue waters captivated us. Off the overwhelmed path, we hiked to historical Lydae, with its tombs, Corinthian columns and basilica from Roman and Byzantine intervals. We stopped at Dalyan, a sleepy fishing village whose seashore is a breeding floor for Loggerhead Turtles, and took a side excursion, kayaking on the Calbis River, in which stunning surroundings and rock-cave tombs greeted us. At the secluded Orhaniye Bay, an historic acropolis and the ruins of a medieval castle established the backdrop to the compact eponymous village. Bencik Bay, a miniature fjord-like inlet, provided breathaking vists of limestone mountains dropping precipitously into the sea. Elsewhere pine forests stretched out hiding a prosperity of golden shorelines, deep gulfs and little offshore islands. More on, we visited at the ancient city of Knidos, a sensational site of maritime trade. We moored at the city’s ancient harbor just as Hellenic merchants would have completed more than two millennia ago, only to gaze in wonder at its monuments – rows of houses, a little theater and miles on miles of fortifications. We looped by way of Gorkova Bay and frequented the English Harbor, exactly where Britain hid submarines in the course of Earth War II, then Cleopatra’s Island and the quiet seaside village of Oren, with its pleasing sector.

On event, we slept outdoors on the gulet’s cushioned deck, dozing to the panorama of stars in the jet-black sky. Waking to the gentle swish of light waves hitting the bow, we enjoyed a luxurious breakfast of freshly prepared Turkish delights in advance of greeting another marvel-crammed working day.

Off the magical coastline of Turkey, we drank in the landscape to rediscover that each individual day is a journey of discovery. Owning sailed the beautiful waters of the Turquoise coastline, our family journey experienced only started.
